Calicut is connected fairly well to other cities of India by rail, road and bus. Its airport is located at Karirpur, which lies 27 kms south of the town. The town has regular flights to metros such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai and also to second-tier cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad and more. There are also flight to many cities such as Sharjah, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Bahrain, Doha, Fujairah, Ras-al-Khaimah, and Muscat. This is also due to the fact that many Keralities go to the Middle East for high-rewarding jobs. Cochin is the nearby airport. The rail connects Calicut to most of the Indian towns and cities. Interstate bus service is also very active most of the time.
