Mamallapuram is very well connected and  easy to reach. If you choose to go by air then Chennai is the closest airport. Going by rail is also an option. The nearest railway station is Chengalpattu. If you are a person who enjoys the scenic beauty and like to go by road then there are bus services to Mamallapuram from Chennai and Chengalpattu. They are frequent and convenient It is connected by buses  which  arrive in the centre of the town from Tiruvanmiyur in _ puram" _Kanchipuram_ . The roads are very  well maintained . It runs parallel to the coast of Bay of Bengal and is flanked by the best natural beauty. Although the area around Mamallapuram was devastated by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami: you can still see its beauty
